Traditions Redefined
Trio Dakoda
Percussion Day
Formed in 2021, Trio Dakoda offers a new perspective on percussion chamber music trends that are already familiar to Hungarian audiences. Inspiration coming from the oldest cultures in percussion music is just as important to the ensemble as their collective compositional work – making music together, composing together, and working closely with composers. Contemporary Hungarian compositions based on African and Indian traditional music will play an important role in their concert, which has been largely developed through the composers and the ensemble working together. The second half of the programme will also focus on the relationship between percussion and musical theatre, with Thierry de Mey’s classic Asztali Zen [Table Music] among the works. The concert concludes with a version of Rolf Wallin’s sound cello, a version of Stonewave originally popularised as a percussion sextet but reworked for a trio.
Supported by the House of Music Hungary and the National Cultural Fund.
